Today.. or at this point, last night, I met with the wonderful administrators at An-Noor Academy, a private school, in Piscataway. I stopped by the Open House to distribute flyers and meet with some students who might be interested in volunteering this Friday. One administrator said that the students might even be able to leave school early next Friday to go to the Senior Center! I will be making parental consent forms so parents know about the event and there are no liability issues. Overall, the students are excited about doing community service. The high school class is only 8 students so hopefully the entire class can attend Remembering Forward!
This weekend is packed with social events-- Wedding reception in PA, and my aunt's 60th Birthday Party. In between, I need to do the following tasks:
- Write agenda for Friday
- Prepare outreach materials for senior breakfast and bingo night
- Create survey to assess community needs
- Purchase supplies
- Call for in-kind donations for events
- Submit press release to local papers
I can't wait to meet the seniors next week!
